Joffrey’s Coffee Plans to Open Flagship Cafe at Midtown Tampa

 | April 15, 2020

As coffee companies everywhere have temporarily pumped the breaks on new retail development due to COVID-19, Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea is heading full bore into an ambitious cafe plan in Tampa, Florida.

The nearly 36-year-old roasting company, which has grown its public profile in recent years as the specialty coffee provider to the major Disney properties, is planning to open its flagship cafe in the new Midtown Tampa development as early as the first quarter of 2021.

On 22 acres and designed to span more than 1.8-million square feet of retail, office and residential space, the Midtown Tampa development is currently 75% leased, according to the project developer, Bromley Companies. Retailers scheduled to fill out the development alongside Joffrey’s include REI, Whole Foods Market, Shake Shack and True Food Kitchen.

The Joffrey’s cafe will occupy some 1,500 square feet alongside a central green space within the development, offering a range of coffees, espresso-based drinks, teas, cold brew, RTD offerings, breakfast items and pastries. The company says it will also plan to stay open into the evening hours, offering wine and beer.

“Joffrey’s is thrilled to be opening our flagship location in the Midtown development — we’ve been part of the Tampa Bay community for more than 35 years and are proud to call it home,” Joffrey’s CEO Ted Abrams said in an announcement of the flagship cafe plan yesterday. “We pride ourselves on brewing the world’s best coffee and tea, and couldn’t be more excited to bring that passion to our new retail home at Midtown Tampa.”
