One of the world’s largest real estate brokers is moving into Midtown Tampa.
The $500 million development just south of Interstate 275 near N Dale Mabry Highway announced Monday that London brokerage firm Savills will move into just under 7,900 square feet in its Midtown West office building.
The move represents a slight adjustment of Savills’ Tampa footprint. The company has had local offices since 2004, leasing 13,000 square feet, including its main office at Bayport Plaza in the Westshore district. While the offices are home to about 50 employees, according to Savills’ Tampa website, the new space will house around 25 or 30.
“Beyond accommodating Savills’ expanding operations in the Tampa market, we wanted a Class-A space that reflects our engaged and employee-driven culture,” Savills senior vice president and Tampa market leader Mike Griffin said in a statement. “Midtown West provides a perfect sense of place, a central location and vibrant energy that will continue to attract top talent to the firm.”
Headquartered in London, Savills has some 600 offices and 39,000 employees around the world. It’s the fourth global brand to plant roots in the building this fall. Two of Tampa Bay’s largest public corporations, Kforce and Primo Water, announced plans to relocate their worldwide headquarters to Midtown West; while Tennessee architecture firm Gresham Smith announced it was moving its Tampa office there from Harbour Island.
“Corporate tenants are showing an increasing desire for well-located, high-quality office space with an abundance of high-end retail, restaurant, and entertainment options within steps of their workspace, which is exactly what they get at Midtown West,” Lauren Coup, director of leasing at Midtown property manager Highwoods Properties, said in a statement.
