F45 Training headed to Midtown Tampa

TAMPA — F45 Training, a franchised commercial gym backed by a minority investment from actor Mark Wahlberg, is headed to the $550 million Midtown Tampa project, developers said Thursday. F45 Training will occupy 2,500 square feet directly across from the recently announced REI Co-op sporting goods store and next to what is expected to the Tampa Bay area’s largest Whole Foods Market. The Bromley Companies, which is developing the 22-acre mixed-used project near N Dale Mabry Highway and Interstate 275, said the three health- and fitness-focused businesses will be a good match for the third-of-a-mile trail around the project’s Midtown Lake. “There’s no place better to showcase our innovative and challenging functional fitness workout than here in the heart of Tampa,” F45 Training franchise owner Carlos Farjallah said in a statement released through developers. “Just like F45, Midtown’s going to have an electric and magnetic atmosphere, and F45 Training is excited to be a big part of that community wide vibe.”

F45 — the name refers to the duration of the cardio and strength workouts it offers — mixes options from 4,000 different exercises so that users don’t take the same class twice. The company started in Australia in 2012 and now has more than 1,700 studios in 40 countries. Its bay area locations include Clearwater, Land O’Lakes, Largo, St. Petersburg and Westchase, with plans to open new studios in Citrus Park, Lutz, New Tampa, Oldsmar, Trinity and Wesley Chapel.
