A fitness studio that bills itself as functional training in a team environment will open in Midtown Tampa.
F45 Training, backed by actor Mark Wahlberg, has signed a lease for 2,500 square feet in Midtown, directly across from REI, an outdoors store that will occupy the ground floor of the mixed-use district’s first office tower.
“F45 Training adds to Midtown’s best-in-class collection of health and wellness choices,” Nicholas Haines, CEO of The Bromley Cos., said in a statement.
Wellness is a major focus for Bromley. Midtown will include one-third of a mile recreational trail, and the developer intends to program the district with health events like fitness classes. Several of the other tenants that have already inked deals in Midtown have a health and wellness focus, too: Whole Foods Market Inc. and True Foods Kitchen will have a presence there.
Fitness studios Fly Wheel and Solid Core were included on Bromley’s conceptual site plan for Midtown.
F45 launched in Australia in 2012 and has since grown to 1,700 studios across 40 countries. In early 2019, actor and businessman Mark Wahlberg led an investment group as a strategic investor and now owns a minority stake in the company.
“Midtown Tampa is an iconic development with an unmatched location, and there’s no place better to showcase our innovative and challenging functional fitness workout than here in the heart of Tampa,” said Carlos Farjallah, franchise owner, F45 Training in a statement. “Just like F45, Midtown’s going to have an electric and magnetic atmosphere, and F45 Training is excited to be a big part of that community-wide vibe.”
F45 isn’t the only fitness concept targeting the Midtown area; EōS Fitness is taking over a dark Winn-Dixie box less than a mile away.
